Rathcairn, Co. Meath, Wednesday 11th May 2022 – Turmec (www.turmec.com), the international provider of innovative waste processing and recycling solutions, is delighted to announce that it has been awarded a £4 million contract to upgrade a Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) at Falkirk, Scotland by West Lothian recycling and waste management business, Levenseat (https://levenseat.co.uk).
The €4.2m upgrade programme by Levenseat will create a new Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) at its Falkirk site designed to process up to 200,000 tonnes of waste per year which will almost double its current sorting line capacity; the introduction of new technologies and automated processes will upskill the labour input on the line. The new facility will continue to accept waste from its existing customers and will enable Levenseat to expand its public and private sector business across central Scotland.
Improvements to the upgraded MRF will allow it to process and recover a much wider range of materials, including bulky waste, which has traditionally been difficult to recycle. The Falkirk site will also process mixed household, commercial, industrial, construction and demolition waste.
Commenting, Levenseat Managing Director Angus Hamilton said: “We are proud to announce our plans to further automate and upgrade this facility and bring highly skilled jobs to the site. This will ensure we can fully maximise our capacity to further support customers’ recycling objectives and play our part in the circular economy.
“We will build on our experience and expertise in this area to implement innovative approaches to ensure we maximise recovery from any waste stream going through the new site for recycling or conversion into energy.”
Trevor Smart, Head of Sales at Turmec UK, said: “We’re delighted to be working with Levenseat to upgrade its new MRF. This project will involve implementing the latest technology to ensure the new site will operate efficiently and greater capacity further underlining Levenseat’s position as a leading Scottish resource management business.”
